After the battle that made his brother king, opening the door for him to later become king, the future Richard III made sure requiem masses were said for the dead of both his side of the battle (the Yorkists) and the losing side (the Lancastrians). He did bad things in his life, but he also did good things like this. He was trying (at that point) to bring his country together. GingerAntics @Graywacke based on other information, I see it as personal values. I‘m sure there was some political benefit, but that would have been for his brother. At that point, Richard was always going to be the loyal little brother, so it really didn‘t benefit Richard in any meaningful way. 4y
