This was a good read. Maddy, in her early 20‘s, is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and we learn about her manic and depressive states as she attempts to navigate through her moods. As a parent with a bipolar kid, I thought this was well researched and written though a bit over the top at times but in an engaging, bookish way.

MyNamesParadise I loved this book so much!! It made a great audiobook on Libby but loved it so much I bought the physical book too. I recommended it for my book club and everyone loved it & thought it was an important book to read. I‘ve had mental health struggles since I was 10 (now I‘m 33) so seeing a young woman in fiction adapt to having a mental health condition was a great thing to see by such a popular author. 3d
Cortg @MyNamesParadise I‘m glad there is more talk about mental health in today‘s society. It used to be such a taboo thing to talk about and made those suffering feel alone. Stories like these are important! 2d
MyNamesParadise @Cortg couldn‘t agree more!! 2d

There was a lot to like about this one, but there was also a lot I found quite silly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This story is about Maddy a young college student who is given bipolar diagnosis. I learned a lot about this awful disorder and had empathy for Maddy but at the same time there was something about the story and main character and the ending that just didn‘t sit well with me I don‘t have enough room here to explain. This was between pick & so-so

I almost bailed here - too much for my current mood, but Maddie pulled me in. This is a good book to help a reader walk in the shoes of someone diagnosed with bipolar. ….TW for those feeing inundated with Taylor Swift coverage, she‘s mentioned often here🤣

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was often an uncomfortable read, but also a valuable one; I imagine it will stick with me. I couldn‘t help but get a little teary at the end. It felt realistic and raw while also honoring the resilience of the human spirit. 🎧

When Maddy learns she has BPD, she needs to learn how she wants to be in the world, overcome self-doubt and fear, and rebuild her family‘s trust in her. This book was nothing short of incredible.

LeeRHarry I‘m glad you enjoyed it - I recently DNFed it as I couldn‘t get on with the character of Maddy. I have loved this author‘s other books. 😊 5mo

During this blog we turn the Authors Spotlight onto Lukas Klessig and his book “Words With My Father: A Bipolar Journey Through Turbulent Times”.

Words With My Father offers a gripping portrait of the evolution of a young man's mental illness and how it manifested into a dramatic and often dangerous existence through the turbulence of the Civil Rights, Peace and Conservation movements.
