Pickpick

When you‘re constantly bombarded with information about health and wellness on the internet or social media, it can be hard to separate science from being sold to. Raphael goes down the line of various categories of wellness from supplements to exercise and brings a healthy dose of skepticism to fads, brands, and influencers. While I didn‘t always agree with her, this was an interesting #audiobook!

Cinfhen Does sound interesting but…. do we need a book ?? 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen yes!! Look around fitness/wellness Instagram and there is A LOT of bs, and even I, with a scientific background, get caught up in misinformation. It‘s just so easy to get caught up in pseudoscience or the unhealthy side of wellness, ⬇️ (edited) 2y
Megabooks For example, I was really worried after watching the hbo documentary about talc makeup products and cancer, and while I‘m sure there are cancer cases tied to residual asbestos in makeup, my eyebrow pencil probably isn‘t going to kill me. (And tbh the doc did really concern me.) But it is so good to get multiple perspectives AND look at the financial incentives each party has for saying what they do. @Cinfhen (edited) 2y

Centique I will have to read this. I‘ve probably said it before but the BS gets me pretty cross. Totally here for the positive effects of genuine stuff - eat your veges etc etc - but yeah, the frightening theories ppl advised me about when I had cancer, (talc powder, bra wire, deodorant, bbqd food etc) all of which I double checked with my specialists, and they were all just scaremongering. 2y
Centique I got told about makeup causing cancer - the woman said to me everything you put on your skin will enter your blood stream within 5 minutes. My specialist said “when you have a bath do your veins fill up with water?” 😂😂 2y
Cinfhen You make a good case❣️ There is TONS of BS around the wellness industry #ExcellentPoint 2y
