Every year I am so thankful for the English Women Prize for Fiction award. It gives continually gives me my favorite books of the year, and they are heavily ones that I had never heard of before.

#FavBook2024

Black Butterfiles is filled with imagry and beautiful prose. A story of a woman who stays behind during the 1992 Sarajevo war. It was an eyeopening and impactful read for me.

Tamra This was amazing! I still think about it. 11mo
ChaoticMissAdventures @Tamra the title alone, I rarely see such a fitting title that can bring intense imagry to my mind. It was so good! 11mo

Chain-Gang All-Stars: A Novel | Adjei-Brenyah, Nana K

It was probably a given that as someone who is pro abolishing the entirety of Americna prisons and cops and who's mood board on Storygraph is year after year half Emotional, Dark, Reflective, that this books would be completely in my wheelhouse. And it was.

I was blown away by this book. I loved how Adjei-Brenyah used footnotes to expand readers depth of knowledge of the current prison system, and how broken it is.

Moodboard 2

#FavBook2024 Yellowface - a white woman steals the manuscript of her dead friend, and changes her name to sound more Chinese because the book is about Chinese soldiers. And then things really go wrong.

I loved this book, the dark humor, the discussion of social media toxicity, and the racism in the publishing industry. It is my first Kuang, but will not be my last.

#FavBook2024 I read 195 books this year Swimming In The Dark made my top 10.

A boy grapples with being gay in 1980's Poland, but it is so much more

I had this idea to do mood boards for my top favorite books read in 2024.

I am still new at this, but it was so good to think about the elements and the feeling of the books and come up with something. Hoping my boards get better as time goes by because this doesn't do this gorgeous book justice.

BarbaraBB That‘s a cool idea (edited) 11mo
