I don't know about favorite...but Guenhwyvar is the first to pop into my head when I thought about this.
Guenhwyvar is the dark Drow Drizzt Do'Urden's faithful companion in the Forgotten Realms novels. She lives in the Astral Planes and can be summoned to the material plane by a dark onyx figurine of wondrous power that Drizzt carries with him wherever he goes.
