Great book about unusual inventions!
I have TONS of things to read, so of course I went browsing through Libby‘s art section for some reason 🤷🏻♀️ and found this children‘s biography on the man who invented crayons! It never even occurred to me to wonder who did that or why even though they‘re something that had a fundamental impact on most of our lives. Also, fittingly, stellar art!
I ate this one up. I was a little worried that it might not do well as an audiobook, but it actually worked out okay. It was a lovely, curated trip through some of the most influential inventors and she even highlights inventions patented by kids. This would be a fun STEM book to use with kids in a homeschool or co-op school setting. This would even be great for summer activities with kids. Even as an adult, I enjoyed this one tremendously.
My accessories for the next week or so… got an update on my knee… was diagnosed with severe arthritis which required a cortisone injection and pt… ☹️
I really wanted to like this book, but alas, I just couldn‘t finish it. The author‘s writing was rather dry, and went into a lot of tangential philosophical writings. I gave up to read more interesting books.
Shelves…an important part of your home library. Stay safe in there!
I am enjoying this book; it‘s a history of paper and its impacts on culture around the world. However, every once in a while there‘s a sentence like this that drives me nuts. There‘s no predicate! It‘s just a string of phrases.
Good history of technology in US since 1870 with a look at Edison, Ford, and others. Took me a couple of months since it wasn‘t as easy. Nice end discussion about the type of society we have or should have. Good overview of nuclear inventions too.
