This morning I was very taken with the description of a painting in Intimacies, and ended up going down a bit of a Judith Leyster rabbithole. The woman did not get credit for her work until 1893 -- after her death every single painting she'd made was attributed either to her husband or to Frans Hals. #morningreads #JusticeForJudithLeyster

Impressed that Alison Weir managed to cobble together a biography of a woman who left behind no letters, no will, no recorded words, and no personal possessions. #morningreads

See, my parents raised us, me and my brother, on an ‘all power to the people‘ doctrine. ‘Liberation‘ was the highest calling. So, what my mother did was . . . noble. Or at least I knew I was supposed to see it that way. And at the end of the day, she didn‘t leave us on a street corner. We were with her mother. . . I just started to feel like she was a soldier we‘d lost to a war. Which, we kind of did. #morningreads

I have all kinds of issues with this book, but I have to hand it to the author: she has nailed Evelyn's voice. The narration is pitch-perfect. #morningreads

This is a good one. Olga is a fantastic character. Also, I love the cover. #morningreads
