I really enjoyed the first Aunties book, and I loved Sutanto's Vera Wong book. But this one was disappointing in comparison. It wasn't nearly as charming or funny, and mostly I just wanted to be done with it. The audio narration was fine.

PuddleJumper That sucks. I enjoyed the first one 2w
Traci1 @PuddleJumper I really did too. Maybe if I'd read it in print rather than audio, it would have been different but it just felt kind of desperate. I'm not sure if that even makes sense, but it was like being pummeled with "I'm funny! You think I'm funny, right? Cause I'm funny! Really!" There are some good reviews on goodreads, though, so maybe you'll like it more than I did. 2w

I enjoyed this sequel & am happy that Medellin & Nathan finally get married. The aunties are even more over the top than in the first one, maybe on the border of too annoying for some readers.

The plot isn't as strong as the first but the second is equally as funny.

Although Meddy and Nathan are getting married at long last it seems the mafia are going to use the wedding as a chance to commit murder. Meddy and her family can't go to the police because the mafia hit squad would then reveal all, so they will just have to make sure nobody gets killed at the wedding, such bad luck.

Even funnier than the previous book - just as well I was reading it at home.

This was a decent follow up to book one, but also seemed silly at times. Turns out the accidental death covered up in book one led to all the shenanigans in book two. Did enjoy the connection and how it was eventually explained. Not a bad follow up, but I felt like the first book was stronger as a whole, while this one was strong in parts but weaker in others. Would still check out a third book just to see how the series progresses over time.

Second book in a series. I didn‘t read the first and I followed the plot fine. It was a little too silly for me, maybe would have been better as a novella. I listened to the audiobook and the performance was wonderful. If you‘re not very familiar with Singlish (which I‘m not), I recommend the audiobook especially since there‘s a lot of Chinese-Indo sprinkled in.

This one was a bit exhausting… It was a little funny, but not really. It was just too silly and unbelievable. I like Meddy and Nathan and how much she loves her family. However, the “mystery” was just so ridiculous.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ not sure if I‘ll read the next book in the series if there is one.

In Dial A For Aunties we are introduced to Meddy Chan and her large close-knit Asian family who run a family wedding vendor business. In Four Aunties And A Wedding, Meddy is now getting married to the handsome Nathan. Rumor has it that the new wedding planners are mafioso and planning a hit at the wedding. The Aunties spring into action in their madcap, slapstick style. Again … the Aunties save the day. This series is so much fun.

Meh... People felt like caricatures, all this ridiculous chaos and absurdity in actions taken... So disappointing!

Somehow I could not get into the story. Too bad because I really liked the previous book in the series. The narrator is still great, but unlike dial A for aunties I wasn‘t laughing non stop.

This one is a slow pick for me. I thought book one in this series was a hoot and I knew this would be a mad-cap ride of implausible shenanigans. It‘s just didn‘t work for me, as well the fist book. I guess I found humor in Meddy and the aunts hiding a dead body in the background of someone else‘s wedding, but didn‘t enjoy Meddy caught up in craziness on her own wedding day. I did like the ending so the pick won out.

I adored this book! Meddy and her aunties and mom have quickly become some of favorite characters. Their hijinks are hilarious, outrageous, and so much fun. I look forward to Sutano's next installment.

It's impossible not to love these aunties running around fighting evil with the Komodo dragons on their heads! The book plays out like a sitcom and it is adorable and hilarious. You have to read the first book in order to get it, but neither will disappoint. The story is far fetched, but if you have an eccentric family that you love, you will relate.

3.5, rounding up to 4. This was funny, but it went on much too long and it was all just a bit too much.

I‘m giving this a borderline pick. This is the follow up to Dial A For Aunties. Messy and her completely ridiculous family are back to similar hijinks. There was some frustrating non-communication (which is something that drives me nuts) that prevented me from truly loving this. However, it was still hilarious at time and wrapped up well. 3.5⭐️
#AwesomeApril - book 1 done!
#NSR22 - cozy mystery
#bookspinbingo - audiobook square

KristiAhlers I just finished Dial A for Aunties lol. I thought it was quirky and fun. I‘ll have to stack this one. 2y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don‘t think I‘ve had so much fun reading a book since “Dial A for Aunties”! How can I not love this wonderfully crazy, hilarious, and passionate family who will do anything for each other? This series is definitely zany and chaotic, but it‘s grounded in love, and it‘s guaranteed to make you smile and forget about real life for awhile! I really hope the series continues - I‘ll never get enough of the aunties!

Ahh this was so bonkers and fun. Mafia and aunties and kidnapping, but still Sutanto makes it feel realistic and slapstick at the same time. If you liked Dial A, you‘ll love this follow up. Can‘t wait for more books in this series…

I adored Dial A for Aunties and this second in a series book delivered more of the same antics. But, that was sort of my rib with it, it felt like the same book and the repeat loses the freshness. #ARC
