so-soThe main character is so annoying and clueless that this is painful to read at times. That being said she's a teenager trying to act worldly and that so is well written. Some of the writing choices are stilted. The author went with ye olde tyme word choice but please find a synonym for mayhep please. Still the side characters are great. #tstl #fantasytropesahoy
so-soThe protagonist is an environmental lawyer and a binge drinker. A blackout, how-did-I-get-here kind of drunk. Without this pretense, the story becomes a boring legal tale. What kind of idiot repeatedly drinks to the point of unconsciousness around a bunch of people she suspects are dangerous?! 🤷🏻♀️ The writing is clean and the story moves at a good pace, so it‘s still worth reading and I‘m hopeful that Ritter‘s next book will be better.
