This, RF-RA-LC, Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature (Honor Book) and Coretta Scott King Honor Book for Non-Violent Social Change, in her debut novel. Angie Thomas creates what might be one of the decades most vivid voices in YA fiction. This novel reflects a world today's teens inhabit. Starr's struggles create a complex character, Thomas boldly tackles topics like racism, gangs, police violence, & interracial dating.

PatriciaS Beautifully written, in inarguably important book that demands the widest possible readership to help educators address those hard topics and conversations that need to be addressed and understood by all with non-violence. 3y
