Pickpick

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 This book is a social commentary about the limits placed on women‘s agency & decision-making, especially WOC. I recommend it for readers who enjoy leaning into a critical lens that explores oppressive systems & mechanisms of resistance. If you enjoy magical realism, you may also enjoy this book. I did have trouble escaping into the world that the author was trying to build. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5189143639

@BarbaraBB @Cinfhen NYPL BOOK OF THE DAY 👀

The Women Could Fly: A Novel
Megan Giddings

A novel about the unbreakable bond between a young woman and her mysterious mother, set in a world in which witches are real and single women are persecuted. Jo is 28, and any woman who is unmarried by age 30 must be monitored by the state. What does her future hold?
