I own a pile of #lgbtq books — this being one of them. I was looking for a different title and chose this when the other proved MIA.

I‘ve been reading all LGBTQ titles this month. When I pulled this one of the shelf I realized how white my reading has been.

In addition to the story of “first love”, I very much enjoyed learning more about the culture of Iran. I did some research.

Great addition to LGBTQ; diversity

Oh my gosh, this was wonderful! And very #huggable 🤗

I loved each of the three main characters; I loved the journaling format used to tell the story; I loved that caring adults were involved.

Published in 2009, there were a couple dated mentions — use of a discman prior to receiving an iPod for Christmas — but that did not distract from the overall story.

Heart wrenching but with hope. The true account of two teens in Oakland, CA — Sasha and Robert — who share a bus ride home.

Well written for teens. An important book.

Mehso-so

I am not the right audience for this one, but I give it a so-so. I‘m middle school and while she me of my students have read it — movie and all — I feel this would work better for me if I worked with high schoolers. I feel it‘s an important book, just not right for me.

I read this book when it first came out and it has been a wonderful addition to the middle school libraries I am responsible for. This month, I have spent my reading time on books covering #lgbtq issues so that I can continue to add quality material so all my students will be able to see themselves represented.

TheFunkyBookworm That is awesome! Thank you for sharing!! Check out last week‘s YA Wednesday for tons of great books celebrating culture and diversity- I‘m sure a lot of those would be great additions to your library as well! 💜 7y

I stumbled onto the tagged book while viewing the pictured window display outside the Kids Zone at our library. I‘m only 25 pages in, but I‘m really liking this book. Told from three different points of view, in various writing assignment styles.

Leah is wonderful. I loved her character and her story. I think I‘m as sad to say goodbye as the characters are sad to say good bye to each other.

Nutmegnc I liked her better in this book but I still love Simon vs. etc the best. 7y

One chapter in and already loving Leah. Glad to revisit the characters from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
