I‘m torn on this one. I have loved all her other work. Really want to love it but. Eh.

Settings Second meh/bail on this one in a few hours intriguing. 2mo
Slajaunie Finished it but it was disjointed and lacked a cohesive plot. 2mo
Nutmegnc @Settings I‘m glad to know it‘s not just me. 2mo

Nutmegnc @Slajaunie I finished it and I think the last of it was the best (not great but the best of a bad read) but still I was like, wait, what?? When did that happen? And then, huh? (edited) 2mo
Slajaunie Yes, very confusing. 2mo
cleoh I also felt very meh about it! I thought it picked up around page 350, and then realized there were only 100 pages left 🤦🏻‍♀️ 2mo
Nutmegnc @cleoh how did they let her publish this? Yikes. So tedious. I kept thinking the best (anything better) part is just on the next page. But no. 2mo

This novella is set directly after the resolution of the first in the series. I read it quickly but it is just as delightful as the first novel. I hear good things about the audio, too...the same actors reprising their roles from the first audio-which was spectacular. #queerlit #queerYA

There is a superb interview with the author in The Paris Review. https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2019/06/05/survival-as-a-creative-force-an-i...

Nutmegnc Vuong says: “Maybe I‘m being naive, but I understand genres to be as fluid as genders. Our lives are full of restrictions—jobs, bills, time, gravity, all of this impinging on us—but to write is to gift yourself the freedom of choice and possibility. “ 7mo

The Inheritance Trilogy | N. K. Jemisin

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms was almost as good as The Broken Earth Trilogy, maybe a little easier to read, in some ways maybe a little more accessible or “fun”? I put off reading it for so long because I was afraid to be disappointed. NO WORRIES. It‘s an amazing story. I‘m not sorry to say N.K. Jemisin is my absolutely favorite author. Also, I‘m liking the new Kindle option to sort by “read” or “unread”.
