Thanks to a super busy (but overall enjoyable) school year, my reading and Litsy-ing has really suffered.... 😬 But summer has begun and I‘m ready to read all the books and reconnect with all the wonderful Littens 🥰
Lately I‘ve been having a hankering for some nonfiction in my life, so I‘m kicking off my summer binge with the tagged book 🔥📚

Well, that‘s depressing.

Yaaaasssssss- the time has finally come!!! I have really been looking forward to this one ever since hearing the author speak a few weeks ago- hope it meets all my insanely high expectations! Lol

Came home to the beautiful flowers in the background, a delicious home cooked meal (too hungry to pause for a pic 😂) and the most adorbs card that describes us perfectly. So glad my hubbs agreed to #bemyvalentine for life!

Making my way through my towering #botm pile! Hoping this thriller doesn‘t disappoint ✌️

Stayed up late finishing this up last night! I really enjoyed this #botm psychological thriller that had some ties to Greek mythology (see background pic). Knocked off one star bc I prefer my thrillers to be a little more twisty turny, instead of saving it all up for a big reveal at the end. I will say this one was pretty unpredictable!

It‘s safe to say that Elizabeth Holmes and her colleagues made a whole bunch of #promise (s) they were unable to keep!
This book was one of my favs in 2018 and one hell of a wild ride! Be prepared to dive headfirst into the google rabbit hole...

I love these photo challenges bc they always cause me to stumble upon fantastic sounding books that I‘ve never heard of! This one is a WWII story about a German dissenter who finds the body of an unconscious Nazi airman in the woods and takes him back to her cabin to care for him. Possibly based on a true story? Add it to the list!

Omg I love this book with every ounce of my soul💜 This is the story of a grumpy old curmudgeon who lives a lonely life after his #soulmate passes away. I laughed, I cried, it was better than Cats! 😻

Oh man I‘m really having a hard time with reviewing this one- after I finished, I did a google deep dive and came up with some concerning info:
-On the one hand I‘m willing to accept that this story is the rememberings of an 87 year old man and I‘m okay with this being his truth and POV- not necessarily overly fact checked
-On the other hand, the author couldn‘t even get Lali‘s name right?! Gita‘s tattooed number was incorrect?!

Two chapters in and I can already tell I‘m going to have to read this one quick- like ripping off a bandaid. WWII books are always difficult reads for me, but it so important that they be read. The bravery and selflessness of people living in the worst imaginable conditions is simply astounding.

When Teo Avelar decides he has had enough of being an #admirer from afar, he decides to kidnap Clarice and take her on an adventure through Brazil to convince her they are meant to be- clearly. ❤️
I really enjoyed this odd, twisted little book! Perfect for fans of You by Caroline Kepnes 😏

I am a sucker for any kind of circus/carnival/side show type story but throw in #mermaids and I‘m in heaven! Shocked to see this book got crappy reviews on Litsy- I really enjoyed this one and gave it 4 ⭐️. However, seeing as how I live in a mermaid house, I may be a little biased lol 🤷‍♀️

Sooo #MyTown is the beautiful Tampa, Fl... I chose this book for obvious reasons however Im not necessarily recommending it to anyone lol
Difficult subject matter and a really disturbing read. The book is based on Debra Lafave- who the author went to high school with. Interestingly enough, I also taught at that same middle school about 10 years after the “incident” occurred... not the best publicity for the school lol

I remember learning about the underground #railroad and being fascinated by the stories of how the slaves hid messages in songs and quilts and used the constellations as a map to find their way to freedom.

Really excited that this author will be coming to visit our school and do a book talk/signing for 50 of our students in March! Looking forward to reading this one and sharing it with my kiddos 😁

Just found out this cool venue downtown is hosting these two wonderful authors for book talks and signings! So glad my beautiful city (Tampa) is starting to host some literary events!

Def going to the Taylor Jenkins Reid (author of the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) event... want to attend Lisa See‘s as well but- St Pattys Day ☘️ so we shall see about that one lol

This was def one of my #stranger reads from 2018 but I thoroughly enjoyed every page! If you‘re a fan of “You” by Caroline Kepnes, you should check this one out!

So I picked this book for bookclub one month because I was really interested in the sections about H.H. Holmes.... turns out most of it was tediously long, #unwanted descriptions of the architecture that went into building the World‘s Fair... interesting at first but quickly became boringggggg lol give me more serial killer stuff please! 😂

Pretending like I‘m going to read while my hubby tapes his hockey stick in preparation for his first game tonight... at 10:45pm?!?! Here‘s to hoping I don‘t have to meet him in the ER later... 😖 🏒

Anyway- this book... ughhhh it‘s sooooo slowwwww.... nothing happenssssss 😫 I would abandon ship but it‘s for bookclub and I bailed on last month‘s book (to be fair, so did most everyone else lol). Blahhhhhh

These are the reflections of Anne‘s childhood friend who grew up next door to the Frank family. After the family went into hiding, she met up with her again later on in the concentration camp.
