First read for 2021 and it‘s the first book from a crash course in black SFF history. It was written at the time it‘s set, in the 1800s and is an alternate reality, where slaves begin to organise an uprising after Henry‘s wife is sold and sent to Cuba after their owners had promised that it would never happen.
