pickAs a 1960s children classic and award winner, I was concerned (or intrigued) by the outdated use of "Indians" or how the context of the story would be presented. However, I did NOT expect it to be a fabulous Robinson Crusoe tale, centering on the wonderful strengths of a lone female protagonist. It would be inaccurate to call this an adventure. It's a SURVIVAL story in various influential aspects.
