The Iliad | Homer

So, my little one is out for the day with my sister and nephew so my afternoon is going to be all about getting through more of my Iliad reread and looking through my uni materials for this first block! It‘s getting closer and I cannot wait. 🐞

Can it be October yet? #a229 #exploringtheclassicalworld #greekliterature #ancientgreece #classics #classicist #classicsstudent #classicalstudies

Tamra I‘ve started a Humanities degree and looks like we might be reading similarly this fall! Gilgamesh, Bible, Ovid, Homer, Virgil, Aristotle, Plato. Though not required, I ordered some newer translations that I hope are accessible so I spend less time deciphering the language on the surface and more on the themes and concepts. I had a Poli Sci PHIL course that was awful in that respect. (edited) 6y
Tamra I should say sounds like you have a plus in that you‘ve already covered some of the material! I‘m a little nervous because I got no classics ed as a music student undergrad and law school graduate student. (edited) 6y
Sophoclessweetheart @Tamra Oh! How lovely! I hope you enjoy it! 😄🖤 This is my third year studying the Classics at an undergraduate level so by now it‘s not really new to me anymore. But, when I started my classics degree I had no prior official classical education as it isn‘t offered in schools here. It‘s not as scary as it seems, you pick it up quite quickly xx 6y
