Not all about the Forbidden City but a nice little book.

A real life story of Chine's last empress. I already have read a book about her by Pearl S. Buck but that was slightly different. It is the first part and it was good, very interesting story. I think my problem was again the translation, the script had no life in it.
A re-read before I pick up the sequel. I had forgotten pretty much everything so I‘m glad I picked it up again. It definitely bogs down towards the end but is a very engaging story, otherwise.

This is a real life based story of the last empress of China. The way she rose from her struggles and hardships is uncanny and noteworthy. My heart felt happy after reading this story.
Anchee Min has very beautifully written this story, the details are so well elaborated without overdoing it. I am looking forward to read more of her.
🏵️🏵️🏵️🏵️ I enjoyed this book. It's an interesting time period and I would like to read more about it.
