I finished reading this book two days ago and I'm still wrapped up in the story & characters. It was a bit slow moving - and I had some issues here and there - but it's overall an emotionally intense, beautifully written, and enthralling read.

I like the original even more than the Disney version. It's heartbreaking and bittersweet, and the mermaid sacrifices so much to earn a soul and her humanity. For a good retelling, try "Drown" by Esther Dalseno.
But I do adore the Disney version too! ?
