A theme present in this book is how society can easily crumble from fear alone. We see Haven slowly turn into a dystopian dictatorship where they go so far as to placing metal armbands traditionally used for livestock on the women, simply out of fear of the Answer. All freedom has been taken away, accompanied by the new mentality of “guilty until proven innocent”. 4y
