Hat tip @Lola for referencing this giant literary news story. You can read all about it here: https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/06/27/books/sarah-jessica-parker-first-book-acqu.... Do you think SJP's book club, while maybe not on par with Oprah's, will become influential, or will it kind of fizzle out like Zuckerberg's did? #LiteraryNews #MrBookWantsToKnow

LitHousewife The problem I have with these types of things is that I don't like to have a permanent stamp on a book saying that it's whoever's book club. I don't usually care about that sort of thing. I can see how it's good to get a book in the eyes of the public, though. 7y
Lola I am really hopeful about these endeavors. I love that she's partnering with ALA and also acquiring books for her own imprint with Hogarth. It seems to me like a combo of the things Emma Watson and Reese Witherspoon are doing. Most of us here are tuned in enough to the book world that we don't need celebrities putting books on our radars but so many others aren't so I think these ventures are great for doing that. Lola @LitHousewife I'm with you on that. I don't even like the #BOTM stamp. All of those stamps right up there for me on the annoyance list with movie-tie in covers. 7y
LitHousewife @Lola Amen!!!! 7y
Gezemice I don't care but I agree with @Lola that celebs can bring books to the less "tuned in". I also don't like the stamps! @LitHousewife 7y
readingatdawn @Lola agreed!!! 7y
minkyb Reading the article, it sounds like SJP's love and respect for the written word and libraries is genuine. So, if she can bring books and new authors to the forefront, it sounds good to me. 7y
