When I was in high school I read and loved this series. Returning to them now when it feels like the world is in such chaos, felt like a warm hug. Some plot points are obviously dated, but I loved rereading these books that I adored when I was so young.

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

Another morning coffee.Overall the tagged book was a good read but I did find Alice rather immature.
It‘s a dual timeline story. It‘s 1881 & the love affair between Austin Dickinson & Mabel Todd is explored. Move to 2013 & Alice Dickinson(no relation)is researching their story to write a script. Her quest takes her to Amherst where she finds”love,”secrets, & betrayal in the lovers story & her own.Emily D hovers ghost like on the sidelines.A so-so.

Suet624 I always know it‘s your post when I see all these colors in the photo. So gorgeous. Is that Shelburne museum mug from Mass or in VT? 8mo

This got me out of my reading slump and then I turned back to the beginning and read it again. Detailed expressive panels and a story about a queer disabled teen attending her first comic convention with her supportive, geeky mom. I loved it all! I get the sense this was published first in Australia and just came out in the US? It was on display at my indie bookstore as having won an ALA award (Stonewall) this year.

willaful Grrr... dashed to my library to find this for my daughter and they have it on order but only in digital. 13mo

The theme for the winter reading challenge at my library this year is Literary Love. I had great fun doing the humor challenge last year & plan on completing the challenge this yr. Although you can technically complete it by reading any 5 books in 2 months, where's the fun in that? I'm not really a fan of love stories, but I do LOVE anti-love & jaded love stories. So I plan on reading 5 books that are anti-romances. First up is this one( CONT)

vivastory where last night I encountered a word in Italo Calvino's delirious story “Blood, Sea“ that I never have before: ingurgitate. I initially thought it might be a neologism, but found out differently after a quick google search. I really enjoyed this Merriam Webster entry on the word:
Most people are familiar with “regurgitate“ as a fancy synonym for “throw up,“ but far fewer know of its rarer antonym “ingurgitate.“ It's a word as likely to turn (CONT

vivastory up in a spelling bee as in a conversation, but it does see occasional use, both literal (as in “ingurgitating red wine“) and figurative (as in “ingurgitating artwork“). “Regurgitate“ and “ingurgitate“ (as well as “gurgitate,“ an even rarer synonym of “ingurgitate,“ and gorge, meaning “to eat greedily) can be ultimately traced back to the Latin word for “whirlpool,“ which is “gurges.“

IndoorDame Can‘t wait to see what else you choose! Love anti-love stories 🙃♥️ 13mo
Megabooks This kind of reminds me of the quote from 10 Things I Hate About You. Something like, “You can be underwhelmed and overwhelmed but can you just be whelmed?” Answer is yes to this as well. Thanks for sharing the cool word, Scott!! 👍🏻 I‘m an anti-love person, too. 13mo
vivastory @IndoorDame Thanks! I'm def looking forward to it 13mo
vivastory @TheBookHippie I have read several Everyman's Library anthologies & love them 13mo
CBee Sounds like a great challenge! I like these types of stories too 😊 13mo
vivastory @Megabooks Lol. Great quote! The only local radio station that I listen to (member supported, commercial free with a great eclectic playlist) does an anti-valentine's day segment every year. It's pretty great. 13mo
CatLass007 Ingurgitate is an excellent new word! Sister Augustine, our grade school principal, told students and entire classes that we made her want to regurgitate. Which is just one of the many reasons why I am not Catholic. But @vivastory, thank you for sharing this intriguing new word! 13mo
Aimeesue @vivastory @megabooks I went to school with a guy we called "Couth" because he was the epitome of couthness. ? 13mo

It‘s the summer before college, Hannah & Sam meet, hit it off, but they don‘t exchange names/contacts. They don‘t think they‘ll see the other again, but they keep running into each other. Each time, it‘s filled w/ mishap & miscommunication.

⭐️⭐️💫 I didn‘t really enjoy this book. It was kind of boring & cringy. I didn‘t really like the characters & the writing could‘ve been better. There were a couple funny lines tho.

First of all, these covers are beautiful. All This Time will always be special to me because it reminded me that my story isn't done either and I still have so much to live for and so many memories that are yet to be made in my life. Five Feet Apart will always be special to me because I have cf and I won't let it stop me from living.

"Egypt's Sister" is about a girl whose best friend ends up becoming a queen.

Chava's dad is a tutor to the royal children. Urbi is a princess who becomes Cleopatra.

They once vowed to be forever loyal to each other, but Chava is betrayed and sold into slavery. Her faith keeps her going.

This is the first book in The Silent Years series. The silent years refers to the 400 years between the Old and New Testaments in the Bible.
