1. I love the interaction of groups of book lovers who share their passions & introduce new books to each other.
2. I haven‘t found anything, yet.
3. A glossary for all the hashtags so I knew what they all meant.
4. Daily
5. Yes
6. I‘d love to have a way to find the different readathons, swaps, read alongs etc. to me it‘s like the menu at In-N-Out Burger — you have the menu & then the cult menu that‘s not listed. I want it all listed. Lol

rules?

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego For 6 I suggest following @LitsyHappenings they repost most events on Litsy, so you can check there to see what's current. 1mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego The hashtags a mainly a way connect an event, and are ever changing, as new events pop up. The best thing to do is just comment and ask the person what a particular hashtag means... But I know what you mean. It took me forever to figure out what #lmpbc means, and now it's one of my favourite activities on Litsy! (Litsy Markup Postal Book Club) 1mo
BethM I agree 👆just ask! Some of us have been here since near the beginning so we forget to explain things! 1mo

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I cohost a monthly read along with Christine @TheBookHippie if you want to check it out #BotmBuddyRead 🙌🏻📚 also a pen pals group #LitsyLove 💕 (edited) 1mo
Lifeisasnap @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Funny you mention #lmpbc is the reason I starting thinking of what it was all about and made that comment. I still have no idea what it is. 😉 thanks for your comments. 1mo

Lifeisasnap @BethM Thanks! I will remember to ask questions. 1mo
Lifeisasnap @ljuliel 🙏 👍 1mo
Lifeisasnap @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thank you for the invite. I‘ll check it out! Sounds intriguing. 1mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego It's so much fun! It's a book club where your in a group of 4 and you pick a book, write your comments in it and then mail to the next person. At the end you get your book back with everyone's comments in it. yYou follow @suvata , she runs it. We just started round so the next sign up won't be until March I think. 1mo
Lifeisasnap @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I‘ll keep watching for the next round! Sounds like a lot of fun. Hey, Danielle, is there a group for the #NovemberTBR ? Or just everyone lists what they have picked from certain clubs followed like #MMD which I knew about since I‘ve been following her for years, or Reese‘s Bookclub?? I love the idea of collaging my TBRs for the month. Thanks for all your help. 1mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I think that's just people posting their TBR for the month, but somethimes different monthly photo challenges will have prompts like that. 1mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Lifeisasnap you‘re very welcome!! ❤️ 1mo

Celine: A novel | Peter Heller

Pickpick

ModernMrsDarcy.com #MMD pick for November 2019

Celine is a 65-ish, sophisticated, “Upper crust“ woman who is retired from a lifetime of covert government operations. Now, she finds missing persons as a hobby. She is quite a character and I love the interaction between Celine and her husband. This is only my second Peter Heller book and I enjoyed it immensely.

BookNAround I really liked this one too. 1mo
suvata @BookNAround I didn‘t love The River so much but this one was really good. 1mo

Gaudy Night | Dorothy L. Sayers

Lukewarm pick. Interesting plot but far too much banter, bickering, ruminating, etc. Anyway, it knocks off prompts for a couple reading challenges.

#Booked2019 #nightoriented not just because of the title but also because much of the mischief occurs at night.

#MMD for a book published before I was born. It was probably quite modern at the time...

Cinfhen I love a #DoubleDip 🍦🍦 2mo
shanaqui I think Gaudy Night might work significantly better if you've actually read the series leading up to it, or at least Strong Poison and Have His Carcase. It's really not typical of the series in many ways, but relies heavily on the investment in the characters for the emotional part of the plot. 2mo
Susanita @shanaqui I was thinking that too as I got further into the book. 2mo
shanaqui @Susanita For fans of the series it's the most awesome payoff, but why should you care if you don't know the background, after all! 2mo

ModernMrsDarcy.com #MMD pick for October 2019

This is the story about a bookseller who collects and restores antique literature. During the course of his work he discovers some Shakespeare forgeries. Now the game is afoot and the book takes us through three periods of history to solve the mystery of what literature is real and what is fake. If you liked The Shadow of the Wind you will like this book too.

CarolynM My husband loves these books. I keep meaning to try one but something else always catches my attention🙂 2mo
suvata @CarolynM He would probably enjoy this. Maybe you could get it for him for a Christmas or birthday present. Just a thought. 2mo
CarolynM I meant he loves this particular book and the others in the series. He's got them all🙂 2mo

suvata @CarolynM oh, I see. I haven‘t read all of them yet but they are definitely on my TBR. 2mo
CarolynM Actually, I'm an idiot! 🙄😳 I've just realised I was mixing this one up with John Dunning's Bookman series. He has got this one but I don't think it's part of a series after all. Apologies. 2mo
suvata @CarolynM no problem. I probably will have to check out the series you‘re talking about. It sounds like something else I may enjoy. 2mo
Amiable @suvata @CarolynM Definitely give John Dunning‘s Bookman series a try! I enjoyed them, too. 2mo

Jane Steele | Lyndsay Faye

Read in 2017
Re-reading for #MMD Flight Pick for September 2019

This is a dark yet delightful tale about an orphan whose life mirrors that of Jane Eyre. I read this a couple of years ago but I didn‘t appreciate it as much as I did with this reading. Not only does Jane Steele‘s life mimic that of Jane Eyre‘s, but Lyndsay Faye‘s writing style mimics that of Charlotte Brontë. Jane is a most likable serial killer — “Reader, I murdered him.“

Same book but two totally different covers. I like the first (blue) one best.

These are my #ReadingGoals for September. I didn‘t read much nonfiction in August, so that‘s a main priority. I also have several books from the #MMD summer reading list that I‘d still like to read, and, I‘m just ready to mark off some more of my challenges before the end of the year gets too busy! #SelfImprovementSept

OriginalCyn620 Great goals! 😊 3mo
MallenNC @OriginalCyn620 I almost included reading books I already own, but we both know how that goes! I am going to try to avoid buying this month though. 3mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 🙌🏻💗📚 3mo
OriginalCyn620 @MallenNC Yes, I do! I bought a book the other day because it‘s an autumn book and I couldn‘t help myself! But no more of that 😉 3mo

#MMD ModernMrsDarcy.com Book Club pick for August 2019

This is my third reading of P&P and I‘ve seen the BBC presentation (staring Colin Firth 💝) at least 6 times. You might say that this is one of my favorite books and you would be 100% correct.

sprainedbrain 😍😍😍 (how do you feel about the 2005 movie?) 4mo
suvata @sprainedbrain I‘ve never watched it. Colin Firth will always be Mr. Darcy to me. 4mo

#mmd summer reading guide 2019 ❤ going to have to try afew of these 📚

MelissaSue81 I have read a few!
The River - Not my usual genre, but a good fast read
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone - Good, interesting, not earth shattering.
Ask Again, Yes - One of my favorites of the year
Searching for Sylvie Lee - Started so good, ended so bad
Recursion - again not at all my usual genre, but it was hard to put down!
Daisy Jones - Pretty good, I think its over hyped.

I am picking up The Mother-in-law from the library today
