I actually enjoyed this second book in the PC Grant/Rivers of London series a little bit more than it's predecessor. Jazz is central to this mystery and all of the historical references tempted me to research more on my own. Never thought I'd find the detailed procedures of policing in London to be so interesting but Grant's sardonic tone keeps the minutiae of even the grunt work engaging. I ❤️ this world. #riversoflondon #benaaronovitch #pcgrant

I absolutely adored this book. It's a completely captivating foray into urban fantasy and perfect for people that enjoy books like Gaiman's Neverwhere but also can't help but marathon episodes of Law & Order in their spare time. The author also delves into interesting historical asides about London's storied past and leaves enough threads dangling to keep reader's anticipating the next book. #riversoflondon #benaaronovitch #pcgrant

CruelSister Also, it was also refreshing to have a plot with such a dynamic cast. The series branches out in later books, encompassing strong female (and male) characters along with a nicely mixed array of racial, religious and sexual orientations presented by not just "token" characters but important people to the series' plots. I'd love to see this series adapted for television! 7y
