pick5⭐️ Until reading this book, I had always assumed the Audubon society was started by John Audubon: bird painter extraordinaire. While that may have existed at one point, the Audubon Society as it is known today was started by two ladies who were aghast at women wearing dead birds as hat decorations. THis was the time of the suffrage movement and they knew that no one would ever take a woman seriously if she dressed in a carcass.
