pickA dark mythology set in relatively modern times, I enjoyed this story. It took a bit to get my bearings in this realistic fantasy world; it would have been helpful to have a key term's pronunciation established in a preface - (singular) capall uisce: CAPple ISHka (plural) capaill uisce: COPple OOSHka. That aside, an intriguing story that I didn't want to put down. Definitely looking at horses differently now.

Yes, it's a history of Grand Prix racing.But it's also the history of the rearmament of Germany through Hitler's deal with Daimler-Benz for state money to develop their racing team as long as they also produced motorized military equipment as well.
Fascinating stuff! But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't interested in racing.
Whoops it's actually non-fiction, but I'm hoping it reads like a novel 🤞🏼🤞🏼

pickFor having a very simple plot, the story-telling was magnificent. The way the author wrote quickly swept me off my feet, and the lore was incredible even with no complete explanation of it. The characters were fleshed-out well and the pacing was incredible— not too slow or too fast. Even the sprinkle of romance was flavorful. Loved it.
My husband , sister and brother-in-law are currently sitting in the stands at this nascar race showing on the TV. I happily volunteered to stay back at the AirBNB with the kids. Wore the kids out at the pool. Now it is reading and relaxing time for me.
