Twelfth Night | William Shakespeare
post image

Part 2
I found the full poem by Robert Herrick, called “Twelfth Night” which is tonight!!! It‘s the perfect day to discuss the first act of the play, “Twelfth Night.”

Lcsmcat Not to be pedantic, but yesterday was 12th night. Jan 6th is the first day of Epiphany. 5y
GingerAntics @Lcsmcat it depends on how you count it. Some people count from the 25th and some count from the 26th. No idea why. A separate book I‘m reading marked it today on the 6th. For some people, it makes sense that the revelries should occur on the day or Epiphany, so technically both are correct answers. As far as I‘m concerned, why have one night of revelries when you can have two? 😏🥃🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y

readinginthedark Perfect! 5y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark not going to lie. It kind of bugs me the first 3 stanzas come after the last two. I should have posted them backwards so they would appear in order. Oh well. I also considered posting each stanza separately so they could be read easier. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y
readinginthedark Yeah, the way Litsy is set-up, it's hard to know the best way to make connected posts sometimes. 5y

GingerAntics @readinginthedark yeah, it makes sense the way it is though, over all. I think it‘s just my perfectionism. lol I didn‘t want to turn it into Twelfth Night spam, either. (edited) 5y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark maybe this is a good reason to be able to post a series of photos and you can swipe to see the next photo. That might be the only useful feature that could carry over from IG for situations like this. Although I can definitely see it getting out of hand, and then it would just be annoying. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 5y
readinginthedark @GingerAntics Yeah, it could get crazy--like live videos on FB! 😂 I'm horrible, but I hate those things! 5y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark oh I hate those things. Just, no. I‘m with you on that one. I was so glad when I got off FB permanently. 5y
readinginthedark I should, but it's the easiest way to keep up with my family without calling them all the time. 😏 5y
GingerAntics @readinginthedark right? It does save time, but it‘s a time suck, too. Toward the end I tried to limit it to just family members, but that pissed off other people I knew. In the end it just became this negative. Everyone was always “what you didn‘t see this on Facebook? You need to check it more.” So I just got rid of it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (edited) 5y

Ah, the “Twelfth Night” is here. Apparently, tonight (6 Jan) we‘re all supposed to do the exact opposite of what we would normally do, laugh at all the things we love and hate, most importantly we must laugh at the things we fear, and enjoy revelries.

Good lord, the Celts did love their revelries, didn‘t they. They were bloody party animals!!!

GingerAntics It is fitting for the Shakespeare read along group. @readinginthedark @merelybookish 5y
