Despite a pretty low rating here I'm really enjoying Wicked so far. From what I can make out the musical has a much lighter tone so perhaps a mismatch in expectations explains it. I bought a year's subscription to Bookly recently and I'm enjoying using that too... Litsy is still my one true love though ❤️❤️
Morning off, book and a huge cuppa... Housework be damned 📖😍

DGRachel I read the book when it first came out, long before the musical, and really enjoyed it. I didn't care for the sequel, though. 5y
LibrarianRyan I think so many people go into the book looking for the musical. It is in there. However, Maguire is a literature professor, and all his novels are really literary and deep thought pieces. In my conversations most people get lost in the dragon clock because it is only a set piece in the musical. I love the book, but I have read all his other books and knew what I was getting into. Lost sucked, and Mirrored started hard ended well. 5y
Balibee146 @LibrarianRyan agree 100%...i don't know the musical at all and expected a literary work. 5y
Balibee146 @Emilymdxn cool...now I'm curious.. What is your current favourite novel? 5y
Balibee146 @Mandoul @MommyOfTwo @DGRachel good to see some ❤️ for this book 👍👍 5y
LibrarianRyan @Balibee146 The musical is absolutely wonderful, but they only really took the Origin of Elfaba part of the story. Not the politics of oz, or the Dragon clock and the pressures of time. I wont lie, I have seen the musical a few times, But i had read the book long before that. His Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was so unique that i have been hooked for life (but I HATED Lost). 5y
Reggie I read this back in the middle 2000‘s and it still remains one of my all time favs. 5y
