I loved this book! Not my usual read, but I thought it illustrated power and the cost of fighting against power in a very real way. I also appreciated all the research the author did regarding language and history. Definitely one of my #tob23shortlist favorites!

One of the best of the #tob23shortlist for me. I stayed up way too late the night I started. These characters had a lot going on and it seemed a bit disjointed at first, but it still captivated me right away. My IRL group will read this when it comes out in paperback and I can‘t wait for that discussion!

RebelReader @Suet624 I bought this one, Babel and Olga Dies Dreaming. I‘m halfway through Babel and all of Olga and then I‘m done. I tried the whole shortlist with the exception of The Passenger. 2y

Suet624 @BarbaraBB Maybe I should rephrase. :) Spent time reading longlist books & many other books that have no relation to the TOB. LOL. I've not been as focused as I wish I had been on making sure I got to all of the shortlist instead of being distracted by other shiny books on the library shelf. Longlist: Cyclorama, Carlotta, The Employees, Ocean State, The School of Good Mothers & Trust. I own Rabbit Hutch and Flight and haven't opened them. 😔 2y

Suet624 @barbaraBB I've read 8 shortlist, now have 2 library books that just became available for shortlist and 2 that I own. Can I read 4 books before the tourney starts? Doubtful. But I'll persevere! 2y
