This is my Dad‘s copy from 1964. This book was originally published by the African American writer, Chester Himes (1909-1984) in 1954. As a child growing up in Detroit in the 1960s and 1970s, seeing this book as well as books by Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes and other black writers on my parents‘ shelves was treasure I took for granted.💘🧡🖤#vintageblackbooks #chesterhimes #vintagepaperbacks

batsy Wow, that's a treasure ❤️ 5y

Yesterday we talked about James Baldwin; today Reggie talks about why he likes fiction and what men can learn from reading women authors. www.folkloreandliteracy.com (Scroll down and click on “continue reading.”)
