I can't stand the writing style in this book - so cold and alienated. The plot is pretty unbelievable, and the characters are nothing like real people. The writer was trying too hard to look sophisticated and deep, while really having a very thin story which she found difficult to breathe life into.

This is the best book about depression that I've ever read. It deals with the subjective experience of depression and is not an academic look. Haig is candid, he tells it like it is without embellishments, and has added a meaningful perspective to the discussion on the issue.

Is it just me, or is this book very, very similar to the author's House of Shadows, at least in the first few chapters. Is it worth going on?
