Preach.
I'm not sure I'm emotionally prepared for this.
I'm like the last person on the planet to read it, but it was a super dishy page turner.
Dark. But ultimately I really liked it. Skates between surreal and stark reality. I'll be thinking about this one for a while.
About 20% in. Not quite sure about this one. Perhaps triggering for those of us in BigLaw.
Tour de force. I recommend this for anyone trying to make sense of our country today.
Heard a podcast with the author, and I'm excited to start this one.
I read it because of *waves hands* all of this, but it was just an excellent book top to bottom. I wish I'd read it sooner.
Not surprising that the book is excellent.
Expansive but intimate. It is HARD for a book to completely envelop me, but this one did. Read it if you haven't. The threads of the stories, the characters, the simple humanity. Amazing.
"We stumble on, thinks Jaslyn, bring a little noise into the silence, find in others the ongoing of ourselves. It is almost enough."
If you're into mob history, this is good stuff.
Opting for true crime this time around.
I know so many people who love Tana French, but this really didn't grab me. I found it mildly eye-rolly in places and predicted whodunnit the second that character was introduced. So meh.
I know a lot of you love her stuff, so I thought I'd check it out.
This was such a delightful gem. I was sorry to see it end. Wonderful characters. Beautifully written. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for small town life with interesting characters type books, but this is just so charming.
