My favourite quote from the book (parts blacked out to prevent spoilers!)

I enjoyed this book which feels like an odd thing to say given the subject matter. I found myself wanting to keep reading to found out what happened next even though I knew it probably wouldn‘t be pretty! It was deeper and more intellectual than I thought it would be and is well-written and a quick read so is worth checking out.

I have heard this described as a classic and one of the greatest books ever written but I certainly did not form that opinion after finishing it. I wasn‘t aware prior to reading it that the book was satire and I think much of the humour was lost on me but I can see how it would appeal more to people who had lived through war. I think it‘s an acquired taste so I wouldn‘t recommend it.
