“I hear that it‘s illegal to use utensils to eat fried chicken in Gainesville, Georgia, and might be elsewhere in the South, too.” Lol. As someone who grew up in Georgia, I believe this.

“…another life destroyed as the haphazard finger of fortune pointed with random carelessness.” From the Prologue. Such a vivid image painted with words in regards to the constant bombings London suffered during WWII.
Can‘t wait to dive into this collection of fairytales, myths, and folklore!
This book was a delight to read from start to finish. Fairytales twined with history, and the struggle of women to gain equal footing in a world that burns them at every turn. It has been a while since I read a story that bridged the gap between fantasy and reality so realistically I could taste it.
“The thing is though-and I don‘t want to upset you-The Last Three are dead...Real dead. Exceptionally dead. There are legends and stories about how dead they are. You might‘ve heard some of them.” Oh Juniper, always so theatrical. Lol
“The Constitution? What, exactly, do you think the constitution is? A magic spell? A dragon, perhaps, that will swoop down to defend you in your most desperate hour? I assure you it has only ever been a piece of paper, and it has only ever applied to a very few persons.”
“Poor me. Poor me. Pour me a drink.” I got an ARC of this book and as I read it I hear his southern drawl. So entertaining so far!
“Forgiveness is also something we grant ourselves. And I can talk to you until these mountains crumble around us, but if you don‘t wish to be forgiven, if you don‘t want to stop feeling this way...it won‘t happen...You don‘t need to become some impossible ideal. You don‘t need to become sweet and simpering...You can keep that sharpness I like so much, that boldness and fearlessness. I don‘t want you to ever lose those things, to cage yourself.” 😭
“He‘d never stop being grateful for it: for the High Lady mere feet from him, who had saved them all from Amarantha‘s rule, who had returned his brother to him and then brought Rhys out of the darkness that lingered.” Oh Cassian 😭
A cup of tea and a good book. What more do I need?
