Invasive: A Novel | Chuck Wendig

This was a bit of a stretch for me to read because I do not mix well with bugs. But it was a thrilling read and I think I enjoyed it overall. I would love to read more books with the same protagonist.

I liked the anime and am pleased to report that I‘m even more delighted by the characters in the manga. Yeaaah for time to further develop characters! Also I enjoy learning about different cultural and pop culture references that the book takes time to explain in a list in the back.

Things fall into place a little easily for everyone involved, but I enjoyed the journey.

I got this as a free download from Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and Avon Books's RWA17 Download Extravaganza.

(Spoilers follow!)

I haven't read any other books in the series, so maybe a novella wasn't the best entry point for me. I liked the "trapped together" plot, but the fact that Dashwood lied to orchestrate it kinda put me off. I am looking into trying a full book in the series sometime though!

I've actually already seen the movie version, so I knew what happens for the most part. But it was fun to note the changes that they made when making it into a film. The book leaned slightly more into the Austen references. :)

Featuring a cute main couple and good use of pop culture references, this was a nice read.

This book was a fun read! Kathy Griffin had nice things to say about many people, and a few hilarious anecdotes too.

It's worth reading to get an update on the Stage Dive universe! But Ben and Lizzie just weren't my cup of tea.

Catching up on my book list! I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first 2 in the Stage Dive series, but it was still a pleasant read.

I had trouble keeping track of the suspects and their backstories. But that could be more of a personal problem, rather than a book problem, though I would love to hear if anyone else had the same issue! Otherwise, I was fairly engrossed in this mystery novel. :)

On the one hand, I didn't like that Mal just sort of takes over Anne's life. She could have used more fleshing out in terms of her interests, besides the band and seeing her sister. On the other hand, Mal and Anne work well together and plausible explanations are given for Mal's behavior. (But someone should have had a concussion based on how many times these 2 hit their heads!) Overall, I did enjoy the book.
