Another go to book of mine. I often buy it for people, saying, I can‘t explain it just read it you won‘t be sorry. Part detective story, part mythology ( was melmont real ) but always very very funny

Just had my book group read this. Most had never read Austen before, got a very favorable response. It‘s my go to comfort book. Sly, witty, observational and with a cast of characters that one recognizes in ones own social circle. Avoiding always though the John Thorpes of the world
