#FebReadUary is here! Haven't posted in a good minute. Got kind of stuck in a small slump this month. I've been very busy writing for the most part. February is gonna be more productive reading-wise! This is a book I've been reading somewhat throughout the rest of Jan. Interesting so far 🤞I still don't understand how I have three copies of it at home 😂

This book is so dark that even the picture looks dark 😶.Enjoyed this more than I ever did before. @WJCintron is a gifted writer who does an excellent job at developing characters & introducing eerie plots and settings. A complex and unique gem in the psychological thriller genre. You WON'T REGRET giving it a try

WJCintron @RaimeyGallant Hi 😃 I saw your post, I'm a Litsy author. That's my debut novella Waiting Room/link on post/psychological thriller. I would LOVE for fellow Litsy members to read it! My 2nd novel it's co written with my son @jeannasser. A dystopian gothic thriller. We are editing it and hoping to have it ready before the year ends. 🙌We also have a web series coming out soon. A psychological horror; UNDERTOW that we co wrote and produced together. 1mo
RaimeyGallant @WJCintron That all sounds fabulous! I'm dealing with a crisis right now, but feel free to add your books to my post. :) 1mo
WJCintron @RaimeyGallant Thanks, I will! And I hope everything gets resolved on your end! Sending positive vibes!! 🙏 1mo

If there's a book I've read the most times in my life, it's this gem right here, written by the wonderful @WJCintron (aka my mother *cough cough*)
Haven't read it in a while so I'm excited to see how I feel about it now. I do know it's a very special book many people need to read.

Girl, Stolen | April Henry

Bailedbailed

DNF
As much as it saddens me, I'm gonna bail on this one. I REALLY wanted to enjoy it. The only thing that kept me reading til 2am was the solid character development and how fast-paced the story was. But Henry's child-like writing, plus the unrealistic dialogues and scenarios were just too much for me to handle right now. I do like how our protagonist is smart and strong despite her blindness and disability. Will finish before the year ends.

Milk and Honey | Rupi Kaur

Before today, I had only heard and seen excerpts of the poems in this book scattered around Tumblr and Instagram, but never took the time to fully experience the compilation until now. That being said, I could not disagree more with the polarizing reception on Kaur's writing style, and I say this as a fan of old-school traditional poetry. Painful stories and inspiring quotes written with passion Loved it!#booked2020 #finishinaday #readharder

A Monster Calls | Patrick Ness
post image
Mehso-so

Yet another cute and fun read from Patrick Ness with a heartwrenching storyline. I felt for the protagonist and enjoyed his interactions with the monster and the stories within the story. Had mixed feelings about it though. The writing style was too simplistic and the relationship between Conor and his mother could've been way better developed. Would recommend for fantasy lovers who look for things in the tone of Neil Gaiman's work.

I know this is late, but #HAPPYNEWYEAR ! 🎉🎆🎄🎊
In this new decade, we should take time to just sit back and read, and what better than a challenge to motivate you?
I'm participating in the #POPSUGAR2020 Reading Challenge! I tried participating in the past few years but got held back in reading slumps due to acting + directing my webseries Undertow. That won't happen this year, though I'll still continue to make films. Are you participating?

The Terminals: A Novel | Royce Scott Buckingham

This book is so underrated that this is the first and only tagged post of it on Litsy. I hope my dog does a good job spreading the word a little 😉🐕 #dogsoflitsy
This was a fun read with lots of action packed moments that leaves readers at the edge of their seats. I'm only skeptical of Buckingham's way of portraying teenagers and the fact that the protagonist has a crush on every female he meets. Otherwise, I recommend for action lovers.

Sharp Objects: A Novel | Gillian Flynn

Panpan

Just finished this one a few days ago. Gillian Flynn is a great writer with a gift for settings and words. This book sure had some interesting ideas, however, I'm sorry to say that the one-note predictable structure, uninteresting character development, and the over-sexualized scenarios makes for a poor debut. 😢 I'm sure I'll enjoy Gone Girl and Dark Places a lot more though so I'm excited to read those.

BarbaraBB I was so disappointed by this one too earlier this week. 2mo
jeannasser @BarbaraBB yeah but I don't give up on authors easily so I'm gonna give her next books a shot. Have you read anything else from Flynn's bibliography? 2mo

Wow...just #WOW! I know I've posted way too much of these books but I can't help it. I'm a fanboy. I have survived the entire #ChaosWalking #trilogy.
This series is one hell of an emotional roller coaster. #Exhilarating, #unputdownable, and #triumphant from start to finish. The #series just got better and better each page. And #PatrickNess liked my post on Instagram 😊

Full #reviews on all three #books coming really soon!

So the snow has pretty much melted in Lancaster and I realized I haven't taken a good picture of this book for Litsy 😂 #CurrentlyReading #MonstersofMen by #PatrickNess from the #ChaosWalking trilogy.
I am halfway through at page 334 of this 643-paged beast. Going great so far. I'm excited to see how it all concludes! 📚

Took this picture Thanksgiving morning during the snow storm. 🌨️❄️☃️ This is the one I'll be reading next. After reading #Cut by #PatriciaMcCormick, I figured I will read another book about #selfharm that's a few pages longer. Let's see how this one attacks the subject matter. What are your thoughts on it?

Mehso-so

This was a quick read that got me through the snowstorm. 🌨️❄️☃️ I have mixed feelings about this novel, but I disagree with a lot of the negative reception on it. This is a book with a simple but good storyline and a very important message in overcoming self-harm. The many underwhelming parts come from the lots of moments that could've been better developed and set forth

"If he can do that," Mistress Coyle says, "then he's even more dangerous to you than I've been saying. Is that who you want in charge of the world you're about to join?"

"I don't know," Bradley says. "Are you the only alternative?"

I love this new character, Bradley, especially because he's got the best comebacks. ? Loving this one so far.

The House on Mango Street | Sandra Cisneros

"One day I'll own my own house, but I won't forget who I am or where I came from."

This is the only sentence I truly enjoyed from this book. Did not like this book, simply because there was no story whatsoever and the really short chapters are nothing but short biographies of many different characters.
