I am intrigued by the way in which parents on Park supercharge every moment of their child‘s life with purpose and drive. I spent most of my childhood feeding guppies and letting my fickle cats in and out of the house.

Listened to this audiobook and finished it in one listen! Each chapter/letter is like slowly unwrapping a surprise gift.

This book was so unexpected! I was shocked to find it was the debut novel for this author. She paints worlds so vividly and describes feelings in such precise ways that you feel all of the emotions. I had to take a moment after I finished the last page to process this one. Highly recommend!

Listening to Edward Herman narrate this book on a blustery snow day....pure bliss!

I know you aren‘t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but when I‘m searching the shelves I so often choose books based on first appearances. This had everything I love in a book...historical setting, scandal, strong females, and a storyline that moved back and forth between the past and present.

Hard to read in some places. 💔He did the characters such justice in their actions and thoughts. I really liked the open ending where he left some room for speculation about the future of the main character. Ready to get my hands on Nickel Boys!

Fact and fiction crossed a lot of lines in this lengthy novel...but I‘m glad that I didn‘t abandon it!
