4⭐️ I quite enjoyed this read, as it was fairly quick to get into and the story flowed well. The characters were well developed and believable and I liked the story. #2020 #fiction #ww2 #bookreview #bookstagram #historicalfiction

Finished this lovely book on the beach today. It was another great historical fiction read, I really enjoyed reading about Ankes story and her purpose as a midwife. As a nurse myself I was able to put myself in her shoes and emphasize with the main character. A great story of war, sacrifice and love.

I'm really interested to know whether Eva Braun really ever had a son or is it just mere fiction?

This book has also been published as A Woman at War, and I think that‘s a better title. The main character is at war in many ways, and seeing her navigate the various levels is interesting. The author also clearly understands her subject and I enjoyed the medical/scientific aspects.

This was good, but not great. The premise was interesting, and the ending suspenseful, but nothing carried this book into spectacular. The past/present chapters were confusing and probably not necessary. The story would have been smoother if told chronologically instead of back and forth. #netgalley ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cannot day enough good things! It had it all, history, humanity, birth, love, and it really made you think hard about both sides of the war. It really showed a unique look at Hitler‘s inner circle. I loved this unique story! Also, having attended many births I can attest to the accuracy of the births portrayed in this novel and that many of the struggles she goes through as a midwife are very relatable!
