I don't know why it took me so long to find and read this book, but it was wonderful. While short, there are a lifetime of memories and emotions in this novel. You will be transformed. You will know the struggles of finding a place of your own, as well as the sacrifice this entails. I needed this book and I'm happy I found it.

While teetering on maudlin, it is relatable. We all most confront the feeling of superfluity within the world. Spring remains unaffected by our passing. No one is under any obligation to validate our feelings,grant us fulfillment, or sustain our sense of purpose.

This novel never seemed to come together the way The Trial and The Metamorphosis did. I was ultimately a little disappointed. Maybe it was just the translation.

Just finished this tome. It's now easily among my favorite novels.It's going to require at least 2-3 more reads to piece the narrative together in my brain, but that doesn't give me the howling fantods. Anyone considering making the plunge, do it. On to Gravity's Rainbow!

Finished my first reading in time for Bloom's Day. I never thought I'd actually make it through. Only thing left to do is to untangle the intertexuality over the next year, or maybe decade.
