So I almost choked on my water reading this line lol. “I don‘t eat food made by mortals. And neither does my mount.” Manon is starting to be one of my favorite characters.
Hooked. Hooked. Hooked! 😬
I casually finished this one (the second time though) within a day and a half. Queen of shadows really starts to pick up and display Aelins real cunning clever planning mind and I love the way the book spins and circles back on itself, each part with a hidden purpose.
It‘s a sunny but crisp morning, feels very much fall-like so I‘ve pulled out one of my autumn mugs. Have a few errands to run with the family today, but otherwise hope to spend my day curled up with this book. Happy Saturday!
I was trying to take a professional picture for this review. My cat had other ideas and decided to steal my props. But don‘t worry, no silk flowers were harmed in the making of this review.
It took me a bit to get back into the story after being away for so long from it. However, once I got back in I loved it. The ending was the best and I really wish it could end the series here. I don‘t want to have anymore tragedies. 😂⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Aelin returns to Rifthold and changes everything. I was 100% here for it and hands down Rowan is my favorite still! We see so much character development and I am so happy because Chaol is finally coming back into my good graces. My favorite part hands down was seeing our different characters stepping into the rolls they have been fighting against.

I got through this despite my frustrations with the pace of the story and many of the characters. Honestly my favorite character is Abraxos, an animal. But once again I did like how some plot points wrapped up, although one twist made no sense at all. I‘ve resigned myself to the fact that I will never really love this series or Aelin so now I need to decide if I continue reading to see how some things that do interest me resolve or just move on.
Once again I seem to be of the minority opinion that these books are only so-so. Probably others who weren‘t feeling them were smart enough to bail by now. They scream “teen” to me despite all the murder and violence. The characters are all so black and white with their feelings. They have no ability to see other viewpoints and it makes the story annoying and eye rolling. I just don‘t love any of these characters. 🤷🏼♀️ Cute library though!
Oh, my goodness, I am LOVING this series!
SJM did it again. Made me care and cry and cheer. I loved most of this book. It moved at a better pace than Heir of Fire which dragged at the beginning but redeemed itself by the end. This book had me engaged throughout. There were scenes that I'd been waiting for since Assassin's Blade in this book. The ending dragged a bit, and some actions seemed out of character, but overall, I loved it.
The moment I learned @Jediash1 and I have opposite opinions about Chaol and Rowan as they are at the end of Queen of Shadows...but we both love the series so I guess that will bridge the gap! 😉 So excited she's reading one of my faves!
Wow - this series just keeps getting better and better! I think this was my favorite one yet. I felt like I barely breathed while reading it - so intense! ;) I‘m almost afraid to keep reading, because I don‘t want anything bad to happen to my favorite characters, but I have to know what happens next!
Wish I could be back..... instead of dreading my upcoming exams 🚶♂️
