A quick reread of an old favorite. A beautiful story with so many lessons to take away. What‘s your favorite quote? “It‘s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting” is one of mine, it makes me feel optimistic about the journey toward reaching my goals. #thealchemist

Everyone said I would cry. When I found myself on the last page with dry eyes I thought I was a monster. Then I read the last line and I starting bawling. I guess that's what happens when you ball up 700 pages of trauma into two days of reading. How far did you make it before you broke?

violabrain I read the last hundred pages or so with tears streaming down my face as I stayed up way too late reading. I remember that night as vividly as I remember this book. I had to read a bunch of scientific books after this because I couldn‘t bear to read any fiction. It‘s such an incredible book! 5y
JD_Clarke @violabrain Solid strategy. I'm actively seeking recommendations for a read that will pull me out of the funk it left me in. 5y
violabrain @JD_Clarke I read The Gene afterwards. It was a good one to read afterwards - engaging, unemotional, and long enough that by the time I finished it, I was over my funk. (edited) 5y
