The more things change, the more they stay the same....
Indulging in a bit of wanderlust this afternoon.
I keep meaning to get up and do something else, but I can't pull myself away from this story.
I love having to teach books that I actually enjoy reading. I'm a sucker for a coming-of-age story and this one is set beautifully against the ugliness of the Civil War. Looking forward to discussing this with my class next year.
So different from Anne, but the same comforting, homey writing that I love.
Indeed. It's not always easy to know how to live. Beautiful way to express the messes of our lives.
I didn't know if I really liked this book while I was reading it. I was frustrated with Beryl and the circumstances surrounding her. However, it's been over a year and I still think about her often - so I must conclude that it was worth the read.
Rereading this after many years for a book club. I forgot what a great story it is!
