I think this book was a little more brilliant than my little mind understood. I can‘t really sell it because I don‘t think I fully understood it in it‘s full brilliance. It‘s a story about the lives and love lives of two couples in Prague. It tells the stories of infidelities but ultimately makes the point that life is light in the most unbearable sense, and that we are all trying to make it heavier by finding meaning (I think...).
This is a book about a 21-year-old who doesn‘t know her own worth and accepts a love she doesn‘t deserve from an older, married man. It mainly tells the story about her relationships with her best friend (previously ex-girlfriend) and the married man she is having an affair with. The book develops the characters beautifully, and was hard to put down. I found the “ending” was a bit frustrating because it romanticises self-destructive behaviour.
