This book has made me realise how much our parents do to secure a future for us. How many sacrifices they have to make to do that and how grateful we should be for that. God couldn't come down physically to each of us, thus he created parents. :)

The book was a good read. I am a sucker for historical fiction, so I'd say I really liked the information I gained through this read. It was well explained. Slightly rushed-through at some chapters leading to death of characters almost suddenly and abruptly. But, that's alright, considering the number of years the story pans.
But, if you like being able to relate with characters completely, I'd say the book doesn't do a 100% justice to that.
I am loving the book so far. The writing is good and Min Jin Lee has taken good effort in explaining Korea to the readers.
