“No, no! Even if he had doted on me, the devilish nature would have revealed its existence, somehow. Catherine had an awfully perverted taste to esteem him so dearly, knowing him so well – Monster! would that he could be blotted out of creation, and out of my memory!” Isabella -MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY

Reading The Green Ember again before our book club next week. It's even better the second time. "It's only that, when you're older, you hand out wisdom to your children like you know everything, but it is sometimes hard to follow your own advice." - Heather and Picket's father

Such an inspiring read aloud book. And the Read Aloud Revival team interviewed Andrew Clements! Here's a link to the interview - http://amongstlovelythings.com/clements

This is so refreshing. "Curriculum isn't something we buy. It's something we teach. Something we embody. Something we love. It is the form and content of our children's learning experiences."

Mehso-so

My eldest daughter's second favorite book, so I gave it a read. It was a bit cumbersome. Lots of singing. And a bit too much negative talk throughout the book even though it is redeemed in the end encouraging self-acceptance.

Quirky priest and mystery. What could be more amusing? "When whosever shall lose his head the same shall save it." "I DO want to threaten you," said Father Brown in a voice like a rolling drum. "I want to threaten you with the worm that dieth not and the fire that is not quenched."

Such a fun and silly story about a princess who has been cursed with zero gravity. "'Tis a good thing to be light handed." "'Tis a bad thing to be light fingered." "In fact it is a good thing altogether to be light bodied." "But it is a bad thing altogether to be light minded."

💜 Finished the audiobook by Rosamund Pike. 💜 Pike is perfection. Austen is astounding. Mr. Darcy is delightful.

Nearly 20 years after the first Harry Potter book was published, I'm just now reading the series. My first impression was that it crosses some boundaries I'm not yet willing to allow my children to pass. But, at the heart of the story is the longing all of humanity has for a savior.

BookFairy Oh!! I'm just getting ready to read it, too. I read the first one last year, but the whole series is on my list for this year. :-) 8y

The Focus on the Family Radio Theater presentation of this story is outstanding. The story is beautifully mysterious and peacefully tragic. My 11 year old compared the sadness to that of The Last Battle.

Even more delightful than the movie. I just love the chapter about the dogs. If you can, listen to the audiobook by Sophia Thompson - that accent adds to the magic.

This is a truly enchanting story. It invited our imaginations into a world of characters with small stature and giant courage. It enticed our souls to crave The Mended Wood. This is a story we will return to again and again. Can't wait for the sequel! The audiobook read by Joel Clarkson is 👍🏻👍🏻.

PlumfieldandPaideia I see how cool this is now. 8y
