OH MY GOODNESS. I have read and reviewed many a book in my day, but by God this book has left me speechless (yes I recognize the irony of the fact that this is, in fact a review). Orwell took me on quite the mind trip and I didn‘t find myself truly engrossed in the book and being unable to put the book down till about the last 100 pages. The torture that Winston endured, the fact that he was finally taught to love Big Brother. That‘s the end of us

michellelav I love that cover!! 💕 And that book is one that will stick with me. 📖 5y
Sevil1008 I agree, this is book a carries message for all time! (edited) 5y

SPOILERS AHEAD!!! The scene where Winston was having a conversation with Syme and Syme was telling him on how the team working on the linguistics of Newspeak were cutting out words from the dictionary every single day to eventually reach a state where they would only have one word in the whole language so as to obliterate even the idea of revolution had me shook. If anything, this is the essence of why the first amendment is crucial.

Pet Sematary | Stephen King

Pickpick

Simply one of the best books to kick off a new year! Stephen King has redefined the genre of horror to not only include terrifying imagery and graphic content but also something much more powerful- the blood curdling fear we all have within us of our deep buried potential for evil and how, given certain circumstances, our ID may as well take over full control over our person. Will definitely read more Stephen King moving forward!
