I loved Please Ignore Vera Dietz, so I was hopeful about this novel. This surreal story gave voice to these young women's painful experiences but it was difficult for me to connect with the characters.

"It seems the misfortune of one can plow a deeper furrow in the heart than the misfortune of millions."
This line touched me because I think that's true for all of us. It's overwhelming to think about doing something to help millions of people, but one person's plight can get many people moving.

Old Bear leaned in close to hear her plea. "You hold the key," he reminded her. "Choose your days, make them sunny or gray."
