When I was in elementary school D.EA.R Time (Drop Everything and Read) was always my favorite part of the day. As I got older reading became so much of a passion that I would complete books in a week! Over time I lost sight of that passion, but now I‘m finding my love again! Please feel free to suggest any and all good reads!
I wanted to read this book before I saw the movie, but better late than never. As an African American woman born and raised in an urban community this is quote speaks volumes to me.
I enjoyed the book. It‘s an autobiography self help book. I honestly think most of the principles and gems he mention are valuable for those who are unaware/misguided. But they are also refreshing for those who need encouragement to stay on the right track. The flow/content of the book doesn‘t really connect with the title in my opinion, but he does try to tie things together in the end. I would give it a 4 out of 5.
“There are three primary “P‘s” to choose from in life: (1) Passion, which leads to prosperity. (2) Poison, which leads to pain. (3) Procrastination, which doesn‘t lead anywhere at all, because you sit around waiting for things to just magically happen. Please don‘t pick “P‘s” numbers 2 and 3. Instead of hoping you‘ll be successful, follow your passion and make conscious decisions that will help you realize your destiny.”
