I‘ve found Whitehead‘s novels to be difficult to absorb in the past. While I enjoyed The Intuitionist, many of his other novels such as Zone One and The Underground Railroad couldn‘t grab my attention. The Nickel Boys on the other hand is delightfully engaging. The characters are so interesting that I finished this book in one sitting. This is one that will stay on my shelf.

Honestly, 9/10. This book was so funny, especially if you‘re a PNW native. I was able to relate and understand so much more of his descriptions having actually grown up in the area. Hilarious novel about those weird lost years in your twenties, what Dexter Palmer would call your “blackout season”.
